We recently took the time to sit down with our new Senior Principal Consultant, Shohib, to get to know him a little better! 

Shohib will be supporting our candidates in finding permanent positions that are the right fit for them to continue within the launch of our expansion into temporary and temporary to permanent solution support.

Tell us a bit about you ...

Hi, My name is Shohib. I have been successfully providing clinical staff to healthcare organisations for 14  years! I am also a Qualified Theologian and Philosopher!

What does your job role involve?

My role is to build and develop a clinical staffing division. I do this by formulating and maintaining great relationships with both client and candidates. 

I work closely with healthcare facilities, hospitals, clinics, and other organisations to understand their staffing needs. This involves identifying the specific roles they need to fill, as well as the qualifications and experience required for each position.

I also use various methods to find potential candidates, through digital recruitment resources, as well as, actively seek out passive candidates who may not be actively looking for a new job who could be a good fit for open positions. Once I've identified potential candidates, I review their resumes and applications to assess their qualifications, experience, and skills to determine if they meet the requirements for the position.

My work also involves scheduling and coordinating interviews between candidates and hiring managers or healthcare providers. This involves finding mutually convenient times for all parties and providing candidates with all the necessary information they need to prepare for the interview.

Throughout the hiring process, I act as a liaison between candidates and employers, answering questions, providing feedback, and ensuring a smooth and efficient process for both parties. I also assist with negotiating job offers and coordinating the onboarding process for new hires.

Building and maintaining relationships with both clients and candidates is essential in my role. I strive to understand the unique needs and preferences of both parties, providing personalised service and support to ensure successful placements and long-term satisfaction.

Overall, my goal as a healthcare recruiter is to match talented healthcare professionals with rewarding career opportunities that align with their skills and goals, while also meeting the staffing needs of healthcare organisations.

Why do you enjoy working in care and support work?

I think healthcare recruitment is rewarding because it plays a crucial role in ensuring that healthcare facilities have the right personnel to provide quality care to patients. Being part of the process of connecting talented healthcare professionals with opportunities where they can make a difference in people's lives feels meaningful. It's gratifying to know that the work I do indirectly contributes to improving healthcare outcomes and ultimately, the well-being of individuals and communities. Plus, every successful placement feels like a win-win situation for both the healthcare organisation and the candidate.

What have you enjoyed about Newcastle when visiting our office?

Newcastle is a vibrant city with a lot to offer! When visiting the office, I enjoy experiencing the friendly atmosphere and the strong sense of community in the city. The architecture, particularly the historic buildings along the Quayside, are impressive, and I appreciate the mix of modern amenities with the city's rich cultural heritage.

Moreover, the people I meet during my visit are incredibly welcoming and passionate about their work in healthcare recruitment. It's inspiring to see the dedication and professionalism of the team at Standby, and it makes my visit all the more enjoyable. Overall, my time in Newcastle is always memorable, and I look forward to future visits to this dynamic city.

What do you do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I love travelling around the world for charity and my ultimate passion is to volunteer in humanitarian aid, during any crisis. I also enjoy spending quality time with my family and writing poetry.
