Get to know…Chloe Wallace, Payroll & Accounts Lead
Chloe Wallace joined our team six weeks ago as our Payroll & Accounts Lead and is slotting in perfectly! Pay is one of the commonly asked questions we get from our healthcare workers, making it important for payroll to be right – no pressure Chloe!
Tell me a little about yourself…
I have worked in many in several different job roles and for different companies over the last 2/3 years. I have gained a lot of knowledge and skills from each of these places; however I have only been at Standby for around six weeks and feel like I have gained more knowledge and skills in the last six weeks that I have in the last two jobs I had.
I wouldn’t know if it was passion, but I love having everything clean and tidy. I am obsessed with travelling to new places and trying new things.
I have the most amazing pooch called teddy who is just a bundle of joy every day.
How are you settling into your role? Are you finding it harder/easier to adjust to your new role, is it what you expected?
I was slightly apprehensive when I first took the role on, I wasn’t expecting to understand all the work and I thought I would struggle with some of the daily tasks but I couldn’t of been more wrong. I feel like I have settled in as well as you can within six weeks. The work is easier than I thought it would be and have picked up many new skills.
What do you enjoy about your role?
I enjoy that I can make the role mine, I can take total control of all my work and the role has been extremely flexible which has been a massive help.
What does the word ‘healthcare’ mean to you?
Help and support whenever you need it. Someone who you can rely on to help you through difficult times with its physical help or needing some moral support now and again.
Are there any challenges within your role that you’ve had to overcome?
As of yet I don’t think there has been any challenges as such but I don’t doubt there will be further down the line!
Tell me what a typical day looks like for you.
Everyday in payroll is different, nothing is ever the same.
I always have the payroll sheet open, and I am constantly updating spreadsheets. My pc has a breakdown maybe three times a day due to all the spreadsheets open.
What do you tend to have for your dinner?
I honestly don’t know its kind of just what food im feeling by the time I’m home. I do love pasta and spicy food though!
Tell me an interesting fact about you that people may not know!
I lived in Canada for two years and we used to have a moose that would come to the window every morning to be fed.
What do you like to do to unwind and relax?
As long as my whole entire house is clean, I’m chilled. I do like chilling watching Netflix in the bath with a glass of wine (bottle)
Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
In 5 years’, time I hope to have a full AAT qualification and to have finished my law degree which hopefully open a lot more opportunity for role expansion.
