Get to know… Luke Quigley, Recruitment Consultant
Our Recruitment Consultants are at the heart of what we do here at Standby Healthcare, being the first point of call for new candidates applying for roles.
Luke Quigley joined us just a few weeks ago, and is really enjoying connecting with people looking for a healthcare career with us.
Let’s get into our chat with Luke…
Tell me a little about yourself…
I previously worked in a mental health unit based in Loughborough, working to transition adults from institutions to independent living.
How are you settling into your role? Are you finding it harder/easier to adjust to your new role, is it what you expected?
Finding the new job good! Everyone here is welcoming and accommodating, makes it easy to settle in!
What do you enjoy about your role?
I enjoy the socialising and communicating with people, much more so than the lone working I’m used to!
What does the word ‘healthcare’ mean to you?
Healthcare to me means helping people who are struggling or who need some support. It’s all about helping people to live to the fullest!
Are there any challenges within your role that you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenge is adjusting to the fast-paced nature of the role and having to problem solve shifts, cancellations as well as juggle the communication needed to work with a massive team of people.
Tell me what a typical day looks like for you.
A day for me at work involves calling carers and support workers to get availability, trying to help care homes and services fill empty shifts. When not at work, I enjoy walking, having a drink with friends and watching the football!
What do you tend to have for your dinner?
Dinner at the moment is unfortunately something healthy like a chicken salad but I have a weakness for a good pizza!
Tell me an interesting fact about you that people may not know!
Interesting fact…once broke my collarbone by jumping off a bed into a mirror.
What do you like to do to unwind and relax?
I unwind by talking to friends, enjoying some green tea and playing video games.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
In 5 years… maybe Standby needs a new director? 😊
